Driving the ABC Auto Gear Racing/Aljon #2 J&J sprintcar, Wanless got the night off on the right foot with quick time during the hot lap sessions, an 11.999s lap of the 1/4 mile Speedway to be the only driver in the field to break into the eleven second bracket. Wanless matched the effort by also posting the fastest time of the Feature race, underlying the work the ABC team have put in over the past month to further increase their consistency this season.

The result moves Wanless to within four points of the Series lead with five Rounds remaining.

Pete Thorley and V8 Supercar driver turned sprintcar racer Paul Morris, also competed on Saturday night in the team's #51 and #61 sprintcars respectively. Thorley kept his season on track with a solid fifth place finish in the A-Main but unfortunately for Morris, he was caught up in an incident during the running of the B-Main and failed to transfer to the Feature event.

Thorley's result keeps him in third position in Comp Cams Series points, while Morris continues to make progress in learning the art of racing a sprintcar on dirt after many years of almost exclusive circuit racing filling his résumé.

The ABC Auto Gear Racing team head to Toowoomba next Saturday night December 20 for the Sprintcar Christmas Cup at Charlton Raceway before returning to Brisbane for the first of the three annual International Sprintcar events at Archerfield on December 26.
