In news hot of the press, 19 year old Californian Wonder Kid Kyle Larson has confirmed he will be contesting the 40th Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic along with two more of his fellow countrymen whose nominations have now been received. Larson who in 2011 recorded an impressive 21 feature race wins, will join World Of Outlaws Stars Paul McMahan and Lucas Wolfe, who will pilot a pair of Robin Dawkins backed Tamar Cars, Maxwill Motors & Kart Magic sponsored machines in the Classic field.Larson began his run of good form in late July when he won his first ever pavement race at Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Raceway Park in USAC midget competition. A week later he captured his first POWRi midget win at US 36 Raceway in Osborn, Missouri. The following week Larson swept the 34th Annual Belleville Midget Nationals in his first ever visit to the intimidating Kansas high banked half mile.  Three nights later Larson enhanced his growing reputation when he was a last minute replacement in the historic Hoffman sprint car for the highest paying race in non wing sprint car racing, the Ultimate Challenge at Oskaloosa, Iowa. Three nights after that Larson returned to his home state and won his fifth race in succession in an Interstate Sprint Car Series 360 winged event at Siskiyou Speedway in Yreka. On September 4 Larson won his first ever Silver Crown race on the dirt mile at DuQuoin, Illinois, becoming the youngest winner in the history of the event. In the process he also became the only driver in 2011 USAC competition to win in all three of their divisions. Three nights later, in a return to California, Larson won again in a non wing sprintcar as he piloted the Brent Kaeding owned car in the USAC/CRA event at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. That was just a prelude to the biggest sprint car race on the West Coast held at the same facility, the Gold Cup Race of Champions for the World of Outlaws. With the addition of wings on the Kaeding mount Larson led all 40 laps to become the youngest winner in the 58 editions of the prestigious event, in what Larson has described as the biggest win of his career. Larson then followed that up with his first ever visit to the historic Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The daunting facility owned by NASCAR Star Tony Stewart is not kind to newcomers, but it was there that Larson grabbed the attention of the racing world. Continuing his incredible string of big wins Larson did it in historic proportion by sweeping all three USAC divisions of the 30th Annual 4 Crown Nationals, joining Jack Hewitt, who also won in a modified, as the only two drivers to take all victories in one night. In short – the Kid Can Drive. This talent has been identified by Victorian Sprintcar Star Brett Milburn who will welcome Kyle Larson to his racing outfit for the 2012 Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic. When quizzed earlier in the week about coming and running for Brett Milburn, Larson made his intention clear.  “I'm really excited about my first trip down to Australia. I feel like I am partnered up with a really competitive team and should have a great shot at winning the 40k. I want to thank Brett and everyone else involved for getting me to come race in the Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic”, Larson said.

In some other exciting news Tasmanian car owner Robin Dawkins has again launched a stirring campaign to claim the coveted Classic crown. The popular Tasmanian will inject not one but two Americans into the fray, providing them with all the equipment and personnel they will need to be genuine contender on Classic weekend. The drivers in question are none other than the highly regards Paul McMahan who is fresh off a strong season driving for the Roth Motorsports – Kasey Kahne Racing team in the ultra tough World Of Outlaws Series where he finished a very impressive fourth in series points. McMahan also recorded 20 top five finishes which was in addition to his four feature race victories which in turn was on top of ten fast time awards. The second pilot is the very likable native of Pennsylvania, another of the World Of Outlaws Stars Lucas Wolfe. Wolfe contested the 2011 Classic, driving for Warrnambool based car owner Harry Droste and now with the arsenal provided by Robin Dawkins will have a red hot shot at the $40,000.00 to win Classic. Wolfe showed his prowess in last seasons Prelude to the Championship event which followed the Classic where he was super quick. Although he failed to claim a feature race win, Wolfe did record a very respectable seventh place finish in the World Of Outlaws in 2011 which included a string of 25 top ten finishes.

One thing is for certain, that Robin Dawkins will be coming to the Classic to see his cars running at the pointy end of the field come Sunday’s feature event, the good news for all race fans is that it is only a month until we all get to witness this at Sungold Stadium, Premier Speedway, Warrnambool – Where History Happens!
