James McFadden fought hard throughout last weekend’s Australian Sprintcar Title deciding feature race at Speedway City in South Australia, but despite his best efforts he ended up with an eighth place finish.

One of the Australian Title favourites leading into the weekend certainly didn’t have the best of runs on the opening night, after he had finished his two heat races in eighth and first and then placed 11^th in the preliminary feature race from a position 16 start, and it haunted him throughout the remainder of the event. The second night saw him finish fifth and second respectively in the remaining two heat races and that placed him as the 12^th highest point scorer going into the feature race. From his position 12 start, McFadden put on a show throughout the 40 lapper and at the fall of the chequered flag finished in eighth place.

The Scott Milling owned NQ # 25 Totally Workwear Midland & VIC Park supported COOL driver, who created history in the 2010 Australian Title at Northline Speedway in the Northern Territory by becoming the youngest ever winner of the event at the age of 21, was disappointed with the way the weekend panned out.

“The team threw everything at the car for the feature race and I did the same as a driver, but in the end we came up short,” commented McFadden. “With such a large field of cars, making up a lot of spots in each of your heat races was going to be vital in regards to starting towards the front of the feature race, which was something that we didn’t do well enough and our feature race starting spot reflected that.”

With their Australian Title campaign finishing disappointingly, McFadden and the team are now focused on consolidating their World Series Sprintcars Championship point standings lead, starting with this Wednesday night’s (February 1) 11^th round at Kalgoorlie International Speedway in Western Australia, which is car owner Scott Milling’s home track. This Saturday night (February 4) will see the 12^th round fought out at Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway to continue the western swing of World Series.
